Wear of micro diamond tool in ultra-precision turning under dry and minimum quantity lubrication conditions

Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) is an effective way to reduce the cutting temperature and tool wear. To reveal effect of MQL on wear micro diamond tool, a calculation model for under dry friction condition established firstly by using Fourier’s law heat conduction. Regarding boundary film as layer heat-conduction medium, revised distribution rake face with different fluids further established. The predicted results indicate that low viscosity beneficial wetting fluid tool-chip contact interface, which can relieve friction. reduction finally decreases temperature. Secondly, temperature–dependent volume Usui rate in response distances. In cutting, graphite prevails. However, application slow down graphitization diamond, so visibly decreases. Finally, experiments are performed verify models. experimental observations agree well theoretical prediction results. Such satisfactory consistency confirms inhibit effectively.
